This paper uses a field experiment and structural model to estimate the effects of nudges, time of delivery and prices on the decision to buy two alternative food boxes: healthy versus sweets. Reduced form estimates show the existence of a strong present bias on the consumption decision, a significant price effect on the extensive margin, while the nudge in favor of the healthy box has a marginal impact on both the extensive and intensive margins. Our structural model tries to identify the difference between the decision utility (experience utility) that governs choices before (resp., after) participants’ decision of answering the door.
