Title: Bitcoin, stablecoins and central bank digital money
Abstract: I first introduce blockchain technology by identifying and discussing the key innovation of the Bitcoin blockchain. The innovation is a consensus mechanism in a distributed and permissionless database. I then talk about the main use cases of this technology such as censorship resistant virtual assets, smart contracts and stable coins. The presentation concludes with a discussion of the implications for central banks and the financial system.
